Mother-in-Law of Supergerm

Card
Text

A nasty new flu escapes your germ warfare labs.

Whomever has this card (starting with whoever draws it) loses 1d4 M people at the start of his/her turn, then immediately passes it clockwise.

Vaccinated nations lose no people. Super Serum cancels this card.

NB: Under the usual order of play, this card will kill people on every player turn.

Additional Notes and Information:

Yet another branch in the Supergerm family tree (in addition to Son of Supergerm and Bride of Supergerm). When we first got Nuclear Escalation, we misinterpreted the Supervirus card such that, if you passed it clockwise, it would activate on that player's next turn -- which would immediately follow yours. (This was asymmetric, in that passing it counter-clockwise added a one turn delay to each movement of the card). Thus, you could choose the fast way or the slow way to universal oblivion.

Then we actually read the card and saw that it was, in fact, precisely worded so as to prevent this rapid method. Played correctly, only the slow way -- one full round between activations -- is available. Well, we're pretty bloody-minded, so I made this card to re-introduce the fast way.

The icon is based, of course, upon the Bride's icon. The flowered hat, square glasses, and -- most ominously -- the full suitcases portending a long stay -- all seemed a propos.
