Runaway nanobot "grey goo" eats people but leaves behind shiny new weapons systems. Lose 1-6 million people. Draw 4 cards. For every two million people (or fraction) you lose, you may keep one card. Discard something in return; also discard any unused from the 4 drawn. |

"Grey Goo" is a term invented by Eric Drexler in his book Engines of Creation (at least, according to this site). It indicates the chance that molecular assemblers will get out of control and convert everything on the planet into a formless homogenous soup of useless parts. As far as I know, Mr. Drexler did not predict that the nanobots would turn people into weapons; that's my own twist. This has the distinction of being the first new card we made. (2005:0402) I'm toying with removing the condition "discard something in return". After all, the goo has already eaten your people and that was supposed to be the raw material. Of course that would allow people to get up to 12 cards in their hand... -=-BhpG |
