Card
Text

You set off a nuclear device at the Earth's core, causing earthquakes throughout the globe.

Play through your command line, followed by a nuclear warhead.

Divide the yield (including chart effects) among all other players, with any remainder being dealt to the single enemy of your choice. A nation can avoid casualties by using a human Spy; your nation suffers casualties equal to half the total saved by Spies. This weapon can be used during Final Retaliation.

Additional Notes and Information:

OK, I'll admit it: This was inspired by a late-night viewing of Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. :) A nod to the origin is given by the title, since Hephaestus is the Greek analog to Vulcan.

One of its purposes (if it needs any beyond the sci-fi, techno-thriller goofiness of it all) is to provide another justification for holding onto a Spy. Our players generally "burn" spies as soon as we get them, to free up the card slot in our hands. So I've added a Spy escape clause to most of the Bondesque cards we've made.

The icon, of course, is the classic cutaway view of the Earth, with the de rigeur shaft and atom bomb at the center.
