This card was inspired by the Warren Zevon ditty of the same name. (It's possible this is actually a Meat Loaf tune covered by Zevon, or vice versa.) It's an 80s throwback to the wonderful days of Reagan-esque meddling in Central America (also commemorated in the card Arms for Hostages). The Good Neighbor mention is an ironic reference to the policy of FDR (that the US be a "good neighbor" and not, for instance, overthrow Central American governments). I have to admit, I am inordiantely fond of this icon, too. It's supposed to be the eponymous lawyers (hence the gold-monogrammed briefcases, the internation symbol for "lawyer"). The bag o'money is drawn from cartoons, of course. But what I really like is the gun-toting pose, which for some reason reminds me of all those Miami Vice- inspired drug movies. -=-BhpG 2005 0729 |
