Ogre

Card
Text

You unleash an automated cybernetic battle tank.

Each turn, may move 1 space (CW or anti-CW) or kill 2 M citizens of nation it is in. Can only be destroyed by nuclear warheads; has equivalent to 10 M population. Any nuclear attack on nation it occupies will also do 1 M damage to it if the attacker rolls less than the megatonnage on d100.

Any nation may play Hack Attack on the Ogre to take control of it.

The Ogre persists even if its controlling nation is wiped out.

Additional Notes and Information:

Around the same time my friends and I were learning Nuclear War, we also came across a game by Steve Jackson Games called Ogre. It was about war in the 21st century, with one side deploying conventional (if advanced) artillery, tanks, and infrantry -- and the other being just one weapon, the supertank Ogre. The Ogre is a real juggernaut, inspiring dread in anyone facing it.

The card is not explicit (and I don't know if I have room to make it so) but the nation occupied by an Ogre can attack it without using a delivery system (much the same as with The Swarm).

The Ogre is the first card that explicitly remains in play even after the owning nation is destroyed. We've also played the battleship and the Sea Wolf this way.
