SOSUS Line

Card
Text

Sub-oceanic array of sonar detectors allows your nation to track submarines.

Play on your turn.

All enemy submarines count as "revealed" for your nation. Nuclear attacks from subs on your nation kill 2M fewer citizens than indicated by the chart.

Can be attacked like Atomic Cannon.

Additional Notes and Information:

The SOSUS Line (Sound Surveillance System) stretches across the so-called GIUK Gap in the North Atlantic. It is an array of fantastically sensitive sonar sensors whose purpose is to detect attempts to break into the open Atlantic by Soviet submarines. Naturally enough, now that there are no Soviet Submarines, the SOSUS Line is less useful and has been made mostly inactive.

In game terms, this card is a natural counterpart to DEW Line. Indeed, the icons started from the same base.

NB: By "revealed", we mean that the sub's location is known (and so the sub may be attacked). It does not mean that the sub's payload or target is known -- those still remain secret until launch.
