You deploy a supergun capable of catapulting an object to orbit. From now on, you may launch a space-borne system (killer satellite, weather satellite, etc.) without needing the usual carrier missile. Simply play the system through your command line. This ability can be attacked like Atomic Cannon. |

Project Babylon was a secret research project sponsored by Saddam Hussein's Iraq. It still isn't clear what its intent was. One theory is that he wanted a supergun like the V-3 Supercannon "London Gun" built by the Nazis. But given the involvement of Gerald Bull (longtime advocate of ballisitc launch systems, including Project HARP), the orbital-launch capacity is at least feasible. Really, the card probably should be "Project HARP", but there is already a card "Project HAARP" and the potential for confusion seemed too great. This card is not very powerful. But deploying an installation doesn't cost anything, so even a small-benefit one can be worthwhile. And sometimes you've got that Weather Control Satellite burning a hole in your hand and nary an Atlas to be found. :) -=-BhpG 2005 0724 |
